I cannot believe that this celebrates the 4th anniversary since I launched the magazine and the website.  Four years have passed at a very fast pace since my nerve racking decision to launch a community magazine and website.

Why did I do it? Quite simple, the main idea was to improve communication throughout the village.  I wanted to know what was happening in the village, what events were planned and all about the people in the village.

When I launched the magazine, there was trouble in the village and there were various residents groups representing different roads up and down the village, but there was little communication between them.

The Parish Council informed us of their movements in the quarterly issue of the Cameo and there were brief mentions once in a while in the local paper but other than that - North Weald residents did not communicate with one another.

I can happily say that I am so delighted with everybody’s support since that day and do not regret the decision at all and North Weald Village Life is now part of my daily life.

So thank you all advertisers who have ever advertised in the magazine, without your support the village would not have their magazine and thank you to all the readers who read the magazine, and shares the magazine with other members of the family, their friends and family.

Here’s to the next four years!!

I know Mondays are usually dreaded days, full of the doom and gloom of a busy week after a weekend spent with the family, this is one is no different  but I just feel glad that I can get on with it all.

Don’t get me wrong I love editing and publishing the magazine, but the days before it goes to print are always stressful ensuring that you remember all the news and events you wanted to include and get it all laid out so that it fits in the areas you have put on the flat plan, sometimes disappointed because a photograph will not fit in.  My family will vouch for this, as I seem to eat, sleep and breath the magazine in these days, any spare minute I am working on the magazine to ensure it is all done, proofed, amended to ensure an artwork proof and electronic format is ready for the printer to collect.

So for those who saw me in the school playground or in the village today, you may have seen a glimer of a smile and now you know why!!

Welcome to my first ever Blog posting!  I have wanted to launch my own Blog on the website in order to chat informally on a regular basis with website visitors.  Now I have done it!!

Not only am I launching my first blog posting, but I am also doing it whilst sitting in the garden enjoying a very hot summer morning, beautiful blue skies and the sun beating down on you, surrounded by the sound of children playing in the garden as it half term school holidays.

The only draw back is the noise from the neighbouring building on the former Parade Ground which is at the back of my garden, I suppose you can’t have it all.

However you really can’t beat North Weald in the Summer, the High Road is busy with people venturing out with their dogs and children or on their own to visit the local shops and if you look you will always see groups of people having a chat with friends and neighbours they have met out and about doing the same thing.

 I intend to write a blog regularly, so if you have any comments at all, please feel free to add them.

 I had better get on, the July issue of the magazine needs planning…
